Comprehensive, Relationship-Based Medical Care
W. Hugh Nesbit, MD believes medicine works best when patients are known, heard, and cared for by a physician who takes the time to understand the full picture. His practice is built around personalized primary care with direct physician access, thoughtful evaluation, and long-term relationships focused on preventing unnecessary illness, emergency visits, and hospitalizations.
With training and experience spanning critical care, neurosurgery, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, and outpatient primary care, Dr. Nesbit brings a broad depth of knowledge to patients of all ages. He provides care across every stage of life, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, men’s health, women’s health, and complex chronic medical care.

A Different Approach to Primary Care
Dr. Nesbit’s philosophy is simple: patients deserve direct access to a physician who knows them well and takes ownership of their care.
Rather than rushing through appointments or treating symptoms alone, he focuses on identifying the underlying cause of medical problems through detailed history, examination, evidence-based evaluation, and close follow-up when needed.
Unlike many practices that attempt to address numerous complex concerns in a single rushed visit, Dr. Nesbit approaches each medical issue with dedicated office time so patients have the opportunity to be fully heard, carefully evaluated, and thoughtfully treated. This approach allows for more accurate diagnoses, clearer treatment plans, and stronger long-term outcomes.
Patients are worked into the schedule for urgent concerns whenever possible, helping many avoid unnecessary urgent care visits, emergency room trips, and hospital stays.
“If you sit down, listen carefully to your patient, perform a detailed exam, and connect the pieces clinically, diagnosis and treatment become faster, more accurate, and more effective.”
Your First Visit
New patient appointments are designed to be thorough and individualized. During your visit, Dr. Nesbit will review your medical history, medications, symptoms, prior diagnoses, and treatment plans in detail. Existing records are requested and carefully reviewed to ensure diagnoses are accurate and treatment recommendations remain appropriate and up to date.
Testing may be ordered to confirm diagnoses, evaluate unresolved symptoms, or identify potentially reversible causes that may have been overlooked elsewhere.
Some patients only require periodic routine care, while others benefit from closer follow-up until their health concerns are stabilized and a clear treatment plan is established. When multiple concerns exist, follow-up visits are scheduled strategically so each issue receives the attention and time it deserves rather than being rushed through in a single appointment.
Coordinated Care When You Need It
When specialty care or hospitalization becomes necessary, Dr. Nesbit works closely with trusted specialists and hospital systems throughout the Tulsa area to help patients receive timely, coordinated care.
His extensive experience in inpatient medicine, ICU care, emergency medicine, and outpatient practice allows him to guide patients toward the most appropriate level of care while maintaining continuity throughout the process.
After hospitalizations, ER visits, or specialist consultations, patients are encouraged to return for follow-up care to review recommendations, reconcile medications, and ensure all aspects of their treatment plan remain aligned with their goals and overall health.
Care Built on Experience — and Compassion
Dr. Nesbit entered medicine because he genuinely enjoys caring for people. Having experienced the healthcare system personally, he understands the importance of having a physician who listens, communicates clearly, and advocates for patients when they need help most.
His goal is to provide thoughtful, accessible medical care centered on trust, continuity, and doing what is best for each individual patient.
